A regional financial services firm moving into a premium Grade A floor in the Gate District required a complete fit-out from shell and core. The brief: a client-facing reception and boardroom of boardroom quality, open-plan workstations that feel designed rather than merely furnished, and private offices that signal seniority without closing the space off.
The branding direction — deep slate, brushed steel, and warm timber accents — had to translate into physical materials and joinery details that would hold up under daily professional use while maintaining an elevated first impression.
DIFC fit-outs involve strict building regulations, mandatory Trakhees approvals, and logistical complexity — all materials entering via a single service lift with shared access. The client had signed a lease commencing 10 weeks from contract award, leaving no margin for rework or delays in the supply chain.
The reception desk — the project's centrepiece — required a seamless 7-metre Dekton solid surface top with integrated LED detail, all manufactured to 0.5mm tolerance and installed as a single lift in the service corridor.
We submitted all joinery and partitioning drawings for Trakhees approval during the design phase — a parallel-track process that saved three weeks. Workshop production started the day approval was confirmed, with all built-in furniture fabricated and dry-fitted before entering the building.
Installation was sequenced as a rolling programme: aluminum partitions first, ceiling raft second, joinery last. The reception desk was rehearsed in full scale at the workshop before disassembly and transported in sections. Final assembly on site took four hours.
From the first day of occupation, every client who walks through reception asks who did the fit-out. The Walls delivered a space that genuinely reflects where we've positioned the firm.
